A guy I did a Dir5 project for asked me to write a note concerning QTW. Maybe it can be useful to you? Any comments? Any feedback appreciated, except for spelling issues, which will be catered for. Regards, Jakob Hede Madsen. ---------------------------------- Applies to any current version of Microsoft Windows, as of september 1998. Does NOT apply to Apple Macintosh. Question: I have QuickTime installed on my Windows computer, butsays, that QuickTime is NOT installed and refuses to work? Answer: You probably have QuickTime version 3 or higher installed. only works in Windows with QuickTime version 2.1.2, which is supplied on the CD-ROM. has this behavior in common, with any product developed before the introduction of QuickTime version 3. You don't need to downgrade your equipment in order to use ! You can safely install both QuickTime version 2.1.2 and QuickTime version 3! In fact there are currently three different types of QuickTime for Windows, these are: A: 16 bit QuickTime version 2.1.2.59 B: 32 bit QuickTime version 2.1.2.59 C: 32 bit QuickTime version 3.0.2 uses (A) 16 bit QuickTime version 2.1.2.59, regardless of the version of Windows. A Windows computer with all three QuickTime types installed should be able to play any QuickTime dependant product. ----- OPTIONAL SECTION ------ We recommend, that you install all three QuickTime types. The QuickTime installers may have the option of searching for, and deleting any old version of QuickTime. We recommend, that you let the installer do the search and delete. The installer will NOT delete any of the other types of QuickTime. ----- REALLY OPTIONAL SECTION ------ Come on now! It's not all that complicated! The bottomline is, that you should just stuff your computer full of different types of QuickTime!. Go ahead, what are you waiting for?...jerk! Arrhh lighten up now, don't take it personally. The reasons to this situation is hard to grasp even for some multi-media developers.
